Lake Francis Case
Located in South Dakota

Lake Francis Case is a large reservoir located in South Dakota along the Missouri River. It is one of four reservoirs on the river created by the Pick-Sloan Plan, a government project that aimed to provide flood control, hydroelectricity, and irrigation to the region. The lake is named after Francis Case, a former US Senator from South Dakota and a key figure in the construction of the Pick-Sloan dams.
Lake Francis Case extends for 107 miles, from the Fort Randall Dam in the south to the Big Bend Dam in the north. It covers an area of 102,000 acres and has 540 miles of shoreline. The lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Anglers can catch walleye, bass, catfish, and other species in the lake's clear waters.
In addition to providing recreational opportunities, Lake Francis Case plays an important role in the local economy. The lake and the surrounding lands are used for farming, ranching, and other forms of agriculture. The dams along the Missouri River also generate hydroelectric power, which helps to power communities across the region.
